What is the Texas Text Exchange?
The Texas Text Exchange (TTE) is consortium of disability service providers who share electronic texts (e-texts) with each other. These e-texts are used to accommodate students with disabilities. The TTE also provides information on the creation and use of e-texts.
The TTE maintains an online digital library of e-texts. The library is administered by Adaptive Technology Services in the Department of Disability Services at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Holdings are accessible only by TTE consortium members.
What is the mission of the Texas Text Exchange?
The mission of the Texas Text Exchange is to provide a medium to exchange information, support and materials related to adaptive reading accommodations for students with disabilities in Texas.
Who benefits from the Texas Text Exchange?
Students with disabilities benefit from the TTE by receiving adaptive reading materials in a timely manner. These students further benefit from their disability service provider's expanded knowledge accommodating their adaptive reading needs.
Who can join the Texas Text Exchange?
All applying organizations must meet the legal definition of an authorized entity. Additionally, other criteria for membership are described in the TTE Consortium Member Agreement. Check out the Join Page for further details.
Three types of institutions may qualify as TTE consortium members:
- Non-profit institutions of education within the state of Texas
- Texas Commission for the Blind (TCB)
- Non-profit institutions of higher education (approx. 3,300) in the United States and Canada
